With prom season among us, it is time to start planning! I remember long ago when I was in high school, I was on the prom committee. Truthfully, I cared more about decorating than I did actually going to the dance. Sure, I liked dressing up and having fun with friends, but the best part was seeing the theme come together out of virtually nothing! My school had a low budget and big dreams… we always delivered when my friends and I were on staff.
So, today, I wanted to talk about five prom themes that are sure to please the students today.
1. Enchanted Forest
Think of every fairytale ever, and just make a magical forest! This theme is popular, and for good reason. To embrace the magic of nature and natural beauty is suer to please the students.
It is important to use many different flora and fauna, astroturf, vines, and lots of fairy lights. If you can get your hands on a fog machine, that is even better!
2. The Lost City of Atlantis
I loved that Disney movie as a child, and I cannot imagine a cooler prom theme! This is my personal favorite.
By using lots of blue and green hues mixed with golden splendor of ancient Greek architecture, you can make the venue feel so ethereal. Think fish, stones, mermaids, treasure, and crowns. It is perfect.
3. Disco Inferno!
I have been listening to the Saturday Night Fever soundtrack a lot lately. Not to boast, but I do have an original pressing of it on vinyl (yes, go ahead and gawk).
Therefore, get that 70s funk going for the young ones. Get the groove on with some disco balls, shiny decor, and all sorts of colors.
4. Y2K, Okay?
If there is one thing the kids love today, it is a romanticized version of Y2K fashion and tech. Well, I lived through that as a kid, so I must say they have it a bit out of whack. However, this theme is totally on trend with how the kids are these days. Think pastels, retro tech, glitter, and radiant decor.
5. Tropical Paradise
With the new season of White Lotus currently airing, and me reminiscing about my trip to Thailand (always), why not create a White Lotus-inspired tropical paradise prom?
Think palm trees, sunsets, flowers, beaches, and water. Another crowd pleaser.
These are all the ideas I have for now and don’t forget, the kids need tables and chairs to relax and get their punch in between dance breaks. Come to McCourt Manufacturing for all your needs, we have something for every theme.
