Once upon a time, I was a ballet dancer. I danced for many years of my life, and I even thought I would one day go professional until I realized I wanted to focus more on visual arts and academia rather than only performance art. Anyhow, a staple in any dancer’s career is of course the beloved Nutcracker ballet. It was my favorite tradition in the world, and I adored every minute of it. There was nothing quite so magical than when showtime finally came for our yearly production of the Nutcracker.
I bring this story up because we also used to host something called the Sugar Plum Fairy Tea. This was a magical moment for all the children to not only meet Sugar Plum, but a variety of Nutcracker characters. It was decorated to the nines, with every sweet treat ever, and fairytale characters to complete. All of the kids loved it.
So, I thought why not recreate a bit of that childhood splendor with a Gingerbread Winter Wonderland, giving an ode to my past life…
Set the scene with a life-sized gingerbread village. Using cardboard or plywood, you can paint and decorate the houses with faux icing and candy details. Think big, bold, and glittery. You can add twinkling lights and snow blankets for a cozy winter wonderland effect. This will be the centerpiece of our event, setting the tone, and creating nostalgia.
You could also encourage guests to dress in festive attire and costumes, just to really emphasize the immersive qualities of the event and to get everyone in the mood.
Now, for any event you need, stylish and functional seating. Why not get some of our sleek, multipurpose Chiavari Clear Acrylic chairs (or the gold!) to give the party some practicality without sacrificing the looks.
Finally, don’t forget the treats! Set up some gingerbread decorating stations, cookie and snack tables, as well as a drink bar. Make this a wonderfully cozy, magical, and glorious event for kids of all ages.
